China and USA Investment OpportunitiesChinese trade and investment policies have, for years, been focused on Direct Foreign Investment (DFI) and Technology Transfers. The mechanism used to accomplish this has changed from an almost exclusive insistence on Joint Ventures (JVs) to the current focus on Wholly Foreign- Owned Enterprises (WOFEs). WOFEs also serve as a vehicle for foreign companies to buy existing State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). A Western company that wants to invest in China through a JV or WOFE will certainly need to retain lawyers, accountants, bankers and other specialized consultants to help put the project together correctly. The process will be time consuming and expensive. One of the reasons Chinafacturing Solutions registered itself in China as a Manufacturing WOFE was to help accomplish the effect of setting up a WOFE more quickly and inexpensively than with the traditional approach. In doing this, we have developed considerable expertise and experience with the "realities" of the process.
